I am finally getting good at this. This took me ten minutes. My procedure is:
- Backup two files, wp-config.php and quicktags.js, and one theme directory.
- Delete the old wordpress directory.
- Expand the compressed file to create the new directory.
- Rename the new quicktags.js and default theme directory.
- Copy my wp-config.php, quicktags.js, and theme directory back into their correct places.
